System for automatic reduction of UV lamp power according to the presence of material in the dryer. This system switches the UV lamps from the standby mode to the working state when the material enters the UV curing section. When the material leaves the UV section of the dryer and no other material enters at the same time, the UV lamps are switched from working state to economy standby mode again. Switching between these states does not affect the overall lifetime of the UV lamps, but provides substantial energy savings.
