CombiDry High Pile Offset Dryer
High power drying for high pile sheet offset machines…
- a combination of infrared (IR) radiation and hot air flow(HA)
- high surface power density
- precise drying power PID control according to stack temperature
- contactless optical stack temperature measurement
- compact dimensions
- optional hot air extraction option to minimize thermal effects on the printing machine
Combined dryer designed for installation in high pile offset printing presses. The device is designed for drying conventional inks or dispersion varnishes. The concept of the drying device is based on a combined method of convection and radiation heat transfer. The heat sources are special infrared heaters, which can achieve a high power density over the area available in the machine. The main component of the heat transfer is the short-wavelength radiation, which brings maximum efficiency and economy, since in this method the heat energy is transmitted directly to the sheets, but mainly to the colour, while the ambient air is not heated. In addition, hot air obtained by cooling the infrared tubes, their bases and mirrors is blown onto the sheets. After passing under the infrared tubes, the running sheets are intensively cooled with cold air. The actual drying can thus take place at a substantially higher temperature than the desired stack temperature and is therefore much more efficient. The stack temperature should not exceed 40°C to avoid softening of the inks and sticking of the sheets. The temperature of the pile is measured by a contactless optical sensor and, based on its signal, a fast PID controller with automatically adjusted control constants controls the power input of the heater so that the set pile temperature is maintained very precisely.
The design of the heating panels allows the choice of irradiation width according to the size of the format and the printed area, which leads to substantial energy savings and further reduces the thermal impact on the printing machine by waste heat. The delivery includes one heating panel, electric box with control panel and blower. In particular, a hot air extraction may be provided, which includes a ventilator with a stand, a hose and a collection nozzle. The device is designed and manufactured to comply with the regulations and standards of the EU countries in terms of construction, operation and safety of the operator and is equipped with the CE declaration.
